Market Minutes: Chesapeake

Hello there!

Today I’d like to share some specific housing market information for my Chesapeake folks. You can view the Market Minutes in detail in various formats below, but here are some of the highlights:

Median Sale Price:

Last April, the median sale price for Chesapeake City homes was $221,250. This April, the median sale price was $230,000, an increase of 4% or $8,750 compared to last year.

The current median sold price is 8% higher than in March of this year.

Days on Market:

This month, the average number of days on market was 72, lower than the average last year, which was 80, a decrease of 10%.

Units Sold:

There was an increase in total units sold in April, with 293 sold this month in Chesapeake City versus 252 last month, an increase of 16%.

This month’s total units sold was lower than at this time last year, a decrease of 1% versus April 2013. A reason for the decrease could be attributed to fewer distressed properties on the market today.
